Fleet Week at the Barn

Forty veterans, a herd of good horses, and lunch on the coast.

For Fleet Week, Saved by the Saddle is opening the barn to 40 veterans for a day of trail rides, horsemanship clinics, and lunch together. The day is sponsored by The American Legion, Lucky Supermarkets, and Ocean View Stables.

You set the pace. Ride, stay on the ground, or do a bit of both. No horse experience needed, and it costs you nothing.

How the day works

• Trail rides, with our staff guiding every group
• Horsemanship clinics on the ground: reading a horse, leading, grooming, and groundwork
• Lunch together, cooked at the barn by our volunteers
• Time with the herd and with other veterans

Before you come

• Any branch, any era, any length of service. Guard and Reserve included.
• Closed-toe shoes. Boots are ideal, sneakers are fine, sandals are not.
• Long pants and a warm layer. The coastal fog is slow to burn off.
• Everyone who rides or handles a horse signs a release waiver at check-in, so arrive about 15 minutes early.
• Ocean View Stables, 2152 Olympic Way, Daly City. Free parking on site.
