The Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) holds its Fall Youth Job Fair on Wednesday, October 14, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM at Stonestown Galleria, and the city's Mega Job Fair follows on Thursday, October 22, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at 88 5th Street. In the days between and after the two fairs, students can attend a library career workshop in San Mateo County, apply to a new statewide student committee and spend an evening at career roundtables.

What the Stonestown fair offers

CYC says its fall fair is for young people ages 16 to 25, who will meet local employers in Center Court. Before those conversations, participants can get help with resumes and LinkedIn profiles, practice in mock interviews, pick up professional clothing and have headshots taken, according to CYC's announcement.

San Francisco's Department of Children, Youth and Their Families (DCYF) and its Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) support the fair. DCYF's listing of youth opportunities describes the clothing as free and advises young people to register ahead of time. By CYC's count, its spring job fair linked more than 350 young people with 25 employers. The contact for the fall fair is Daphne Wong-Ha, at daphnew@cycsf.org.

CYC Fall Youth Job Fair details

A hiring fair open to ages 16 and up

The Office of Mayor Daniel Lurie and OEWD present the Mega Job Fair, which welcomes job seekers 16 and older and is not limited to young people. Its listing says the local businesses taking part have hundreds of jobs to fill across healthcare, hospitality, food service, retail, transportation and nonprofits. Employers named there include United Airlines, UNIQLO, USPS, Target, BMO Bank and Los Angeles Apparel.

Many employers at the fair will interview on the spot, and people who RSVP can sign up for free career coaching. The listing says space is limited and that an RSVP guarantees a place. The fair's partners are FACES, Goodwill San Francisco Bay, Hospitality House, MEDA, Mission Language and Vocational School, Self-Help for the Elderly, Success Centers and Young Community Developers.

A workshop, a deadline and a roundtable evening

Sunday, October 18: Beyond the Classroom. San Mateo County Libraries lists this workshop on getting ready for a career, aimed at students in middle and high school, at its Foster City branch from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. The library's listing shows no fee.

Monday, October 19: State PTA committee applications due. The California State PTA is forming its first Student Advocacy Committee, with room for up to 20 students from across the state. Members meet virtually from October 2026 through June 2027 and can expect roughly 5 to 10 hours of work a month. According to the State PTA, the committee gives students a chance to practice civic skills, and no background in advocacy or civics is needed to apply. To qualify, students must currently attend a California high school or community college, be members of an active PTA or PTSA unit and be 13 or older, with a parent's consent for anyone under 18.

Monday, October 26: College and Career Readiness Roundtables. Reel Stories holds the roundtables from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at KQED in San Francisco, and DCYF lists the evening for ages 16 and up. Tickets cost $15, but the listing says no one is turned away for being unable to pay. Fee waivers can be requested at merusharma@bavc.org.

Job help that continues after the fairs

CYC announced on Tuesday, October 6, that it has opened a new office in the Excelsior at 5000 Mission Street, a space it shares with Excelsior Works. The new office houses the CYC Service Hub and the employment services of CYC Young Adult WorkLink. Its phone number is (415) 889-0659.

In San Mateo County, Jobs for Youth (JFY), run by the County of San Mateo, serves county youth ages 14 to 21 with job-training workshops, a youth job board, summer internships and scholarships. JFY says applications for its summer 2027 internships will open in early 2027, and as of Friday, October 9, it had not posted dates for its next scholarship round. The program's office is at 500 County Center, 4th Floor, in Redwood City, and it can be reached at (650) 599-7215 or jobsforyouth@smcgov.org.
